Maxwell Chongu has attacked PF national chairman Davies Chama of being ungrateful and treacherous over his firm stance that former president Edgar Lungu must forego the presidency.
During heated exchanges in PF Whatsapp groups over the lead story in Daily Revelation’s Friday print edition, headlined, “Lungu is retired, Period! – Chama”, Chongu castigated Chama for being ungrateful over the several powerful positions Lungu appointed him to in government and in the party.
“Mr. Davies Chama’s political career from Heritage Party to PF finished immediately SATA died. Guy Scott appointed him SG after forcibly grabbing it from ECL, he refused the position and went on sabbatical leave away from partisan politics. ECL became party president and remembered him to the extent he appointed him SG,” stated Chongu. “ECL did not end there but appointed him DEFENSE MINISTER a man who has never won any election besides he is a loner for he does not socialize with anyone nor does he have any following. His current position in the party was given to him by ECL. This is how ungrateful and treacherous Mr. Davies Chama is, without shame.”
But vocal PF cadre Kelvin Mwaba popularly known as Papa Gunasi castigated Chongu for having been among those who contributed to the PF being ousted from power because of his show-off conduct of the assets he accumulated during the PF reign.
“Iwe Maxwell Chongu iyi party teku big brothers (don’t compare this party to your activities in Big brother). Even the people who have you the microphone where you went you tell them they don’t think,” Gunasi said. “When you were drunk with the money you went to dress up in a Dorcas uniform for SDA women and you even apologised for that. Today you start going after Chama.”
He argued that Chama helped secure Lungu the presidential victory in 2015 and 2016 as secretary general.
“Mwaya pointa chi (Davies) Mwila (You appointed Mwila), who destroyed the party, indulging his deputy secretary general Mumbi Phiri, because they were tolerating your foolishness,” argued Gunasi.
