Police has confirmed investigating the matter where ETG senior managers have been arrested for allegedly being found in possession of the FISP fertilizer which was being repackaged in the ETG fertilizer bags.
But sources tell Daily Revelation that a very senior lawyer at State House is pressuring the joint investigations team to have the suspects released from custody and have the matter
closed.
Impeccable sources told Daily Revelation that those said to have been arrested are Kamal Kamatchi, the ETG supply chain manager and Prashant Rjan, another senior ETG employee, while the general manager Paresh is said to be on the run.
Contacted by Daily Revelation on this information, police spokesperson Rae Hamoonga said the police were investigating the matter relating to the fertilizer but that they would not give details now because the matter was being handled jointly with the Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC).
“When it becomes joint, it means issues are a bit complex. We cannot give a statement as of now for fear of jeopardizing our investigations. But we are investigating that. We have investigated that matter since Saturday. We are on the ground and at an appropriate time when we are done with our investigations we will issue a statement to the public,” said Hamoonga.
Sources close to the operation have revealed that State House, through a very senior lawyer, is trying to intervene for the release of the arrested employees.
“We would like President Hichilema to know and stop this interference from his official and allow the law to take its course,” the source said to Daily Revelation.
ETG is one of the leading fertilizer supplying companies in Zambia.
