A-20-year old man of Ndola’s Chipulukusu township has been arrested for allegedly raping his biological mother, aged 55.
The incident happened on February 28, 2025 at 19: 00 hours when the suspect met his mother, pushed her on the ground and raped her.
Copperbelt Province Police commanding officer Peacewell Mweemba confirmed the incident to Daily Revelation that the victim sustained a swollen right eye and headache.
“The woman reported that her biological son raped her. Facts are that the victim was living with the suspect but she chased him away from her home because of his bad behaviour. On Friday, when she came back from the market she found the suspect at home quarrelling with his uncle and the moment he saw … mother, he started insulting her as well,” Mweemba said, further explaining that the victim decided to leave home and went out for a walk. But on her way back, she felt someone holding her right hand.
“When she turned round to see who it was, she saw her son. She asked him what the problem was but he just started insulting her and slapped her on her face several times and then pushed her to the ground,” he said.
Mweemba said the suspect undressed his mother and forced himself on her.
“Though the suspect ran away, the victim reported the matter to the police and went home to sleep waiting for the next day to go to the hospital,” he said.
Mweemba said yesterday, when she woke up, she found the suspect in her living room seated and she shouted for help.
“Neighbors quickly responded to her call and apprehended the suspect whom they took to the Police Post where he was detained and is currently in police custody,” said Mweemba.
