And Lungu said Zambians should pray for Holy Spirit to come upon President Hakainde Hichilema, so that he stops lying.
And Lungu warned police officers to stop taking orders against the opposition, warning that the UKA government would go after those who were in the habit of doing so in their own individual capacities.
Speaking at a public rally in Samfya yesterday which was hosted by Citizens First leader Harry Kalaba, a member of United Kwacha Alliance (UKA) to which they both belong, Lungu said, “ l want to make it very clear because you like threatening me, no! That is treason, no! That is sedition, it won’t work because I am a fearless person. I don’t entertain intimidation. Harry, my young brother, if you are afraid, just remain.”
He told intelligent officers who were present at the rally to go and tell President Hichilema that the situation on the ground was bad because people were suffering.
Lungu also said if people rose against President Hichilema, he should not blame him or Harry Kalaba.
Lungu further said UPND was an opportunist party which was commissioning projects started by the Patriotic Front government.
“So bala Isa kuno ku Samfya muku mibepa ati nabaleta amenshi, nabaleta amenshi. Yalya amenshi nifwebo twayaletele (They will come to you, to tell you that they have brought you water, it is us who brought the water). Katyetye mwenda mwalimwa (Opportunist individual without shame),” Lungu said.
On UKA, Lungu said the people knew that they were working hard together with Kalaba, that was why they wanted to put a wedge between them.
He called on Zambians to pray for President Hichilema against the spirit of lying.
“Takwaba umuntu wabufi, alebepafye ubufi chilabushiku (I have never seen a person who tells lies everyday). This man has been telling lies everyday. Ubufi tabukula mushi so epepo lyesu ifwe kupepafye ati Lesa wesu mupashi wamushilo ikateni ulya muntu pakweba ati amwikate umupashi achinje imibele yekulelanda ichishinka (Lies don’t not build a village. We must pray to God to touch the heart of this person to change his lifestyle and start speaking the truth),” Lungu said.
“Babwesha ba Vedanta, balekana ba Vedanta ati tabakabwele iyo (They have brought back Vedanta, but they were refusing that Vedanta will not be back), you were saying Vedanta tayakabwele it has not come back but Vedanta yabwela nensoni nakalya muntu wamusango shani (You were saying that Vedanta will not come, but it is back, what kind of a human being is this?).”
Lungu said Zambians were suffering because of one person who refused to acknowledge the day of prayer.
“Fimo infintu tuleyako twa ipushako naba patili, bashi mapepo. Ngefi fileponena everyday (Some things require us to go to Priests and ask what is this that keeps befalling us every day)? Teti wemuntu nawikala awu ti that useless day of prayer (Because you can’t just say no that useless day of prayer). Elo Lesa ngati ukushamika alashamika (when God decides to curse, he curses),” Lungu said.
Lungu further warned police officers who were in the habit of taking illegal orders, saying it was better for someone to lose their job by being professional as even if they were fired today for refusing to obey orders they would be restored and even promoted later in future if there was a change of government.
And Kalaba said the UPND government had not only refused to give fertilizer to the people of Samfya, but had also refused to give them electricity.
“Kuno kumwesu temu fundo fye weka batutana namalaiti balitutana (It is not only fertilizer they have also denied us electricity). Takwaba uko loadshedding yakosa nga kuno kwine twaikala (There is no place that is loadsheded more like our area), kuno ama laiti yaya 02:00 hrs yabwela 02:00 hrs nakabili mailo (Electricity goes at 02:00 hrs and comes back 02:00 hrs the following day),” Kalaba said.
At the same rally, 300 UPND supporters led by the vice chairman for Bahati constituency defected to Citizens First party, citing hunger in the country as the reason for the defection.
