Defence force insiders have told Daily Revelation that the ZNS commander Lt General Maliti Solochi has seriously deviated from the globally observed military practice of displaying only the name of the officer and the applicable institution on the name tags without necessarily adding one’s appointment.
“Since inception, no commander from ZNS, Zambia Army, Zambia Air Force and the police itself, has ever displayed the title of “Commander” on their name tags” said the source. “Gen Solochi seems too excited with the appointment he has as though he is the first one to be placed in charge of the service yet he is neither the first nor the last one to occupy that office.”
In a picture that has apparently been widely circulated on social media Gen Solochi is pictured with the just fired police Inspector general Lemmy Kajoba the latter of whose name tag shows only his name and the institution he represents at command level.
“Ba Solochi bena bali bilima sana, takwaba ati mpakafye na appointment batobamo pa name tag (Solochi is just too over excited, it doesn’t happen anywhere for one to insist on displaying his appointment on the name tag),” said the insider. “The globally accessed standard format of uniform identity only involves the name and the defence or security institution one represents, not adding things like commander this commander that no. That’s serious deviation from the acceptance practice.”
