There will be no more kamo kamo (public officials receiving kickbacks from government projects), says Republican President Hakainde Hichilema.

Speaking during the swearing-in ceremony of 17 ministers plus a private secretary at State House yesterday, President Hichilema said the ministers had been appointed to serve Zambians diligently.

He said the ministers had an urgent responsibility of lifting the country from its economic doldrums, and they must do it dramatically by beginning to sow seeds now.

President Hichilema said some of the ministers appointed will be handling government projects, and urged against corruption, saying goods and services will be bought at the right price.

“No more kamo kamo,” the President said, adding that there will never be a situation where a one kilometer road will cost $1 million.

He said there will be no deception and joy ride in the UPND administration.
