President Hakainde Hichilema said he is ready to meet those in the opposition, who he said are “planning” violence in polling stations, saying he was elected as President to maintain the peace and security of the country.
Addressing a rally in Kanyama today, President Hichilema said he had information that PF were planning violence in polling stations tomorrow – in apparent reaction to NRPUP presidential candidate Brian Mundubile – who directed his supporters to overwhelm the polling stations by remaining there after voting, and also that they should escort the vehicles that would be carrying cast ballots to the totalling centres.
“Tizagwebana mailo (We shall handle each other tomorrow). I am ready,” President Hichilema said, adding that there would be police in the polling stations. “Don’t bring the bad side of me.”
He said his was the only government that has seen the Kwacha gain two days before an election, as the Kwacha was now beating the United States dollar.
He said the Kwacha was beating the dollar.
“”And you want to go back to Tonse and PF,” President Hichilema said.
He promised to construct a fully fledged schools training in Kanyama and Makeni.
He said Kanyama hospital would be expanded.
He said he would expand the Kalusha Bwalya road as it had now become narrow.
He said more police officers would be employed as the country headed towards a 24-hour economy.
President Hichilema warned the people against going back to PF, as those who went back to graveyards “became ghosts.”
He told the people that they would be killing themselves without having to go and vote.
“Yu nurses must be the first ones,” President Hichilema said, adding that they must go and tell others to vote after they had voted early.
