Tukamona ngabakamitonya amabele balya bene mwayako, acting PF secretary general Nixon Chilangwa is heard telling his tribal cousin Margaret Mumba, over news that she had joined the Socialist Party (SP).
And Mumba, a long time PF strong-woman and former Lusaka provincial chairlady, has insisted that she is still a PF member, claiming that SP leader Dr Fred M’membe forced her to take a picture in the SP attire.
In the audio shared with Daily Revelation, Chilangwa is heard asking Mumba over news that she had joined SP.
“Iwe chi Maggie Mumba nge ifi ndeumfwa ifyabupuba (You Maggie Mumba what about this foolishness I am hearing)?” Chilangwa asked, as Mumba responded: “Ifi fyabupuba ifi (This is foolishness indeed).”
Mumba explained that she was related with Dr M’membe in that her husband’s sister is married to Dr M’membe’s brother, and that they were visiting at Dr M’membe’s house and she therefore decided to visit them.
She said before she left for Dr M’membe’s residence she called former second deputy Speaker Mwimba Malama to inform him, Incase pictures were taken from the event and people started insinuating.
Mumba said at Dr M’membe’s residence, the SP leader leader asked her to wear the party chitenge to pose for the picture with him.
“You know I was forced. But I insisted that I’m PF. But they also insisted that even if you are PF, ba M’membe is also PF from Sata’s time. That’s why I wore that chitenge please forgive me,” Mumba said, as Chilangwa responded: “Okay tukamona ngabakamitonya amabele balya bene mwayako (Okay we will see if those you have gone to will caress your breasts).”
She promised that she would meet Chilangwa at the office the following day, but was not sure because some UPND members had encroached on her land, and had therefore called in the surveyor to help resolve the matter, saying she feared they would get a piece of it now that they were in government.
“It’s okay, I just wanted to hear from you, I don’t like hearing information from others unless I hear it from the horses mouth,” Chilangwa told her.
“Awee boss teti (it can’t). I am PF. I need to organize the party for PF,” said Mumba.
Called by Daily Revelation, Mumba said she was PF, while sounding opposition to “yokonda kutuma pama media kuchita bwanji.”
She said journalists were usually called if some politician were defecting, which did not happen in this case.
Asked to categorically state that she had not joined the SP, Mumba said: “One day I will call you then I will tell you the facts.”
Asked that the journalist was aware of the audio with Chilangwa, Mumba simply said “uhmmm…Okay!”
