Vice-President Mutale Nalumango says the results of the UPND administration are being seen and the noise from the opposition will soon go

She said the UPND government is working hard to deliver development to the Zambian people and the results are already showing.

“We are setting the tone for national development and that is why we are not speaking loudly like those in opposition. They are making the most noise to portray a picture that they are working. The UPND government is committed to delivering development to the people of Zambia. We are working and the results are being seen. The noise coming from the opposition will soon go,” Nalumango said.

Vice President Mutale Nalumango said the international trips that President Hichilema has been making have rebranded the country’s credibility at international level, which she said has resulted in the restoration of investor confidence.

And Nalumango has said that the UPND administration does not support gay rights.

Responding to a question by Lumezi member of parliament Munir Zulu during the Vice President’s Question Time in Parliament, who said that the promotion of lesbianism, gaysim, bisexual, transgender and queer have the potential to lead to moral degradation in the country and wanted to know if the UPND government’s position on gay rights, Nalumango said that President Hakainde Hichilema and the UPND administration has made it clear that it does not advocate for LGBTQ and wondered why the discussion has continued even in Parliament.

“To begin with, the Zambian laws do not allow the practice of lesbianism and gayism. The UPND government has made it clear that it does not support LGBTQ. The President has spoken about this several times and I don’t know why we should continue discussing this issue even in Parliament. And I don’t think that this should be subjected to a third party,” Nalumango said.

And responding to Pambashe member of parliament Ronald Chitotela, who wanted to know what the leadership will do to a council chairperson in Luapula Province who he said has been engaging in hate speech and disparaging other tribes, Nalumango said that the UPND administration will not tolerate tribal sentiments among its members, saying the ruling party is uniting the country.

“We cannot allow tribal sentiments among UPND members or any person. Inciting or uttering tribal sentiments will not be entertained,” said Vice-President Nalumango. “We are One Zambia, One Nation. There is no small tribe and there’s no big tribe. This government is uniting the country. And I want to say that the UPND has its own internal disciplinary procedures to address such matters. And I can assure you that that will be addressed.”
