Former Finance deputy minister Jonas Shakafuswa says Zambia should not allow itself to descend into ‘stupid political’ levels of Zimbabwe, Uganda, Rwanda and Tanzania and other low level primitive states.
And Shakafuswa stated Zambia needs the checks and balances from incarcerated Brian Mundubile and Makebi Zulu for the growth of the country’s multiparty dispensation.
In a statement, Shakafuswa urged against killing the country’s competitive political spirit.
”Imagine the Premium League without Manchester City,Man U, Arsenal, Chelsea Liverpool and others. Soccer will not be exciting. Even though Man City is being probed and is relegated to spectator’s status. PL won’t be the same. The same with Politics. We need HH and UPND. We need Mass mobilisers like Mandubile, Makebi Zulu and a vehicle like the defunct NRRUP and RP, which they rode on,” Shakafuswa argued. “Spoilers like Miles Sampa and some alliance partners. Party for sale activists who are corruptly moved by money, not principles to determine predictable outcome. Political comedians. They all ensure Zambians are excited. The competitive environment ensure democracy wins as no Party will go to sleep knowing they might lose the trophy.”
