There is no need to worry or hurry, says Dr Zumani Zimba following his suspension from Tonse by alliance leader, incarcerated Brian Mundubile.
In a letter dated September 07, 2026, Mundubile, in the letter signed by himself , charged that Zumani’s “unauthorised” social media postings had brought the standing of the organisation into “bad repute”.
”SUSPENSION FROM DUTIES AND COMMENCEMENT OF DISCIPLINARY PROCEEDINGS: It has come to my notice that there have been a series of unauthorised press and social media postings and releases that have brought the standing of our organisation into bad repute,” Mundubile stated. “In view of the above it has become necessary for me to invoke the provisions of Article 13(6) of the Tonse constitution and place you on suspension pending the outcome of the investigations into your conduct and possible disciplinary proceedings that may be brought against you.”
Mundubile stated that by copy of the letter, which he said would either be served physically or electronically via WhatsApp, the Tonse chairman and the alliance legal affairs chairperson were instructed to put into operation the provisions of Article 16 of the Tonse constitution.
He instructed Dr Zimba not to go to the secretariat or issue statements in the name of the alliance during his suspension.
Mundubile also directed Dr Zimba not to use the title of Tonse secretary general or advisor to the president or organisation.
He informed Zimba that formal allegations shall be provided to him for his comment and explanation, and that he had been ordered to handover all Tonse properties and documents in his possession to the first vice-president Chifumu Banda.
But when reached for comment, Dr Zimba said he would comment next week.
”I will read and analyze the statement my brother….” stated Dr Zimba. “And l will comment next week, not this week coz there is no need to worry or hurry.”
