Sindine mwana wanyoko to be arresting me while sick, msssh! – Nawakwi

By Staff Reporter

Sindine mwana wanyoko for you to infringe on my rights msssh! says FDD leader Edith Nawakwi.

And Nawakwi has charged that instead of concentrating on the gold mafias who have made their way to the “State House kitchen” and addressing the record high mealie meal prices, President Hakainde Hichilema is more determined to wash his “Pheruna dirt” on her.

But police have urged Nawakwi to report herself to the police, expressing surprise that the person said to be sick is spreading messages that police is looking for her.

Speaking with Daily Revelation, Nawakwi said police went to her home in Roma to arrest her this morning but they couldn’t as she was receiving treatment at the hospital.

“They have left. They say they want to arrest me on the warn and caution statement they recently recorded against me, that’s the statement from my lawyer. They are doing this in the presence of the letter from UTH that I’m on continuous medical treatment. Even then they told the lawyer that bring her we arrest her. They are aware that I am indisposed and was out for three months,” Nawakwi said. “Surely, I couldn’t have gone for manicure or for honeymoon. I have a family and I am a leader of a political party. They say I am a fugitive as their Mr Koswe says. They are just disturbing my healing.”

Nawakwi insisted that the Hatembo issue must be blamed on President Hichilema and the people in the UPND, including his permanent secretary Nicholas Phiri.

She said she was undergoing treatment pending surgery, stressing that every person was entitled to receive medical treatment as even convicts were taken to hospital when they fell ill.

“But it seems Hakainde is so keen to wash his dirt on me over the Pheruna issue that he couldn’t be bothered about established medical procedure … This harassment is postponing my healing. But I want to say that clearly the people who had issues is Partner Siabutuba whose last location was Meridian Lodge in Choma … Why was Pheruna released before inauguration? Was I the one who was inaugurated?” asked Nawakwi.

She likened President Hichilema to a man who had failed to cook nshima by accusing the maid , saying the price of mealie meal is now K300 for the ordinary Zambians.

“He just wants to shift focus for failure to provide food. They should concentrate on the problems at State House where gold mafias have found their way to the State House kitchen,” Nawakwi said. “It’s very unfortunate you have a President who can’t concentrate on delivering of goods and because he’s not thinking he has put Zambia in a very bad position in SADC.”

Nawakwi described the allegations against her as a sham, saying they went to her home even after being informed by her lawyer Chifumu Banda that he was travelling to Lundazi after losing his sister and that she herself was at the clinic.

“Even losing a sister is nothing because they have to fulfil Hakainde’s wish. Like someone last time said that ‘bring her dead or alive’. Ndine mwana wanyoko (Am I your mother’s child)? Msssh! Sindine mwana wanyoko (I am not your mother’s child),” said Nawakwi, arguing that she has rights as a citizen and accused the President of bringing “retired officers from the archives” when young police officers could do the job. “Is this normal where a note from the head of department at UTH should be ignored? Even in his Mr Biden America it doesn’t happen.”

And Police have confirmed that they are looking for Nawakwi.

“I wish to confirm that Ms. Edith Nawakwi was summoned to report to the Police last week but her Lawyer requested to reschedule to today, August 29, 2023 at 14:30 hours. Today, Police received information that she was unwell and that the Lawyer has a bereavement. We are surprised that the person reported to be very sick is sending messages that Police are looking for her on social media platforms,” Police deputy spokesperson Danny Mwale stated. “We, therefore, advise that she reports herself to the Police.”

And Police in Mansa have charged and arrested Leonard Chanda aged 39, a Major in the Zambia Air Force, for Attempts to Procure Commission of Criminal Acts contrary to section 392(1) chapter 87 of the laws of Zambia.

Brief facts of the matter are that on August 28, 2023, the suspect went to Luapula Police Division Headquarters where he met one the senior officers to authorize him to carry out illegal mining at Butute Mining situated in Milenge District even when he was not in possession of a mining licence.

The suspect was detained and later released on Police Bond to appear in court soon.
