ZNS commences disciplinary action against athlete Njobvu

The Zambia National Service (ZNS) has commenced disciplinary action against 400-meter women’s star Rhoda Njobvu for her alleged role in a sexually explicit video that is circulating on the internet.

And The Zambia Police Service has instituted investigations into an immoral video that is currently making rounds on various social media platforms.

While the Zambia Athletics (ZA) also says it is investigating a video that has gone viral of an alleged high-profile athlete engaging in an explicit sexual act.

Njobvu is allegedly one of the people in the video engaging in a sexual act with another female.

ZNS chief of public relations Brigadier General Mable Njone said during a press briefing yesterday said Njobvu, who is a sergeant in their defence force wing, does not represent the values upon which the institution is anchored on.

“We have come across a video that is circulating on social media platforms depicting one of our sponsored athletes by the name of Sergeant Njobvu Rhoda where she is engaged in an obscene and indecent act with another woman,” General Njone said.

” Not only are we disappointed as an institution but also appalled by this sort of behaviour which is at variance with the core values the institution is anchored on,” she said.

“Arising from this, the institution has since commenced internal disciplinary procedures against the named solider and the decision that will be taken will be communicated to the nation at large.”

The announcement by ZNS comes after Zambia Athletics earlier on Sunday also began its own probe into the matter though a three-member panel.

Police institute investigations into immoral video circulating on social media.

In a statement yesterday, police spokesperson Rae Hamoonga stated that the video video in question depicted two female individuals engaged in indecent conduct, which had sparked widespread public concern.

“We wish to remind members of the public that the possession, production, and circulation of obscene materials is a criminal offence under Section 177 of the Penal Code, Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia,” Hamoonga stated. “As investigations are actively underway to establish the full circumstances surrounding this video, we urge the general public to refrain from circulating or downloading such material. Any person found in breach of the law will be dealt with accordingly.”

Hamoonga warned warned the public to desist from engaging in this vice, as such conduct not only violated the law but also offended public morality and decency.

He stated that Zambia Police remained committed to upholding public morality, enforcing the law, and protecting the dignity of all individuals.

ZA president Major Bernard Bwalya said the association will thoroughly investigate the authenticity of the video.

“Zambia Athletics wishes to inform the public that it has taken note of a video currently circulating on social media platforms, involving individuals alleged to be members of our athletics community,” Major Bwalya said.

” As an institution founded on the principles of professionalism, discipline, and national pride, we have launched an internal process to verify the facts and engage the relevant parties involved.”

Major Bwalya said ZA has instituted a three-member team to investigate the matter.

“We strongly urge all members of the public, the media, and our athletics fraternity to refrain from making inflammatory, prejudicial, or speculative statements while investigations are ongoing,” Major Bwalya said.
