Miles Sampa’s PF faction acting national chairperson Charity Banda says she is working with her leader, Sampa, and are both likely to endorse President Hakainde Hichilema and the ruling UPND in the 2026 general elections.
Speaking with Daily Revelation yesterday, Banda said people were criticising her political decisions, saying they felt good when they saw her suffering.
She said they did not even know how she was suffering.
Asked if she was working with Sampa, and if they were going to endorse President Hichilema and the UPND, Banda said they worked together, and were likely to endorse the President.
“Very very much, because if they are organised then we endorse them, like any other,” Banda said. “Balya mbona ukushili bwino kubaleka (Those I see as not pleasant to work with, I leave them.”
Banda said they had been ready to work with their fellow colleagues from the PF who were standig on other special purpose vehicles, but they had been ignored.
“Batubika ku wire (they have disregarded us). It’s the first time I will endorse another party. But I will always remain PF,” Banda said. “It’s up to them. From the distance I can see what they want. The opposition first want the presidency but they don’t know what the ground is saying. Naliba ku wire but nafuti mulembika ku wire (I have already been sidelined, but again you sideline me further). I have never been a minister even from the long time I have served in PF, but that doesn’t mean I wasn’t useful.”
Banda said they wanted to be part of the opposition unity, but their fellow opposition colleagues were forgetting that Sampa was also an opposition leader.
She said even pastor Peter Chanda, who ‘ate’ from the same plate with late former president Edgar Lungu, had crossed over to support President Hichilema, but no one was complaining about the same.
“Ine na Miles (myself and Miles) are moving together. That’s why people are attacking us. We wanted PF to stand, but since it’s not on the ballot, but for the sake of elections we will endorse someone who will make a difference,” Banda said. “We will see who is wiser between us (talking about her fellow opposition colleagues).”
She said a lot of people had crossed over to the UPND, including Kalulushi member of parliament Kampamba Mulenga, but she had never seen people raise any noise about the same.
“I have never seen ukwima ama bimbi kwati pali Charity (I have never seem them raise so much noise as they are doing with Charity,” said Banda.
