The Chingola Municipal Council has challenged Economic Front (EF) leader Wynter Kabimba to provide them with legal documents his Kasompe clients claim to have so that the local authority can scrutnise them.
Kabimba, who has been retained as the lawyer for the Kasompe residents whose houses were demolished, recently wrote the council demanding that they compensate the residents over and above the land promised to them.
But the council, through Town Clerk Namukolo Kalufyanya, in a letter dated September 20, 2022 and seen by Daily Revelation Media insisted that the properties were destroyed because they encroached on a titled property belonging to the government.
“We refer to the above captioned matter and your letter dated 6th September 2022 whose contents were duly noted. You may wish to know that the said properties that you allege were illegally demolished by the local authority had encroached on a titled property belonging to the Government of the Republic of Zambia for use by the Ministry of Communications and Transport, Department of Civil Aviation, under Certificate of Title No. 83732. Further the due procedure was followed in the execution of that exercise as provided for by law,” stated Kalufyanya. “However, since your clients claim to have legal documents issued to them by the Council, kindly avail us with copies for scrutiny.”
