I WILL ASK BOWMAN THAT NGA IFI TULEUMFWA – CHAMA … urges fellow politicians to be principled if democracy is to fluorish

I will ask Bowman that nga ifi tuleumfwa, opposition PF national chairman Davies Chama has said.

And Chama has urged his fellow politicians to be principled if democracy is to flourish.

Former Lusaka Province minister Lusambo said he considered it “very possible” when asked if he would entertain the idea of joining Dr Fred M’membe’s Socialist Party (SP) to work with him. He said he was a politician and could join any political party he wanted to.

Asked to comment on the same. Chama has said that he cannot comment on Lusambo’s statement as he was not privy to the matter but would query him over the same.

Chama explained that there is nothing wrong with politicians greeting each other, adding that he will not comment on interactions that Lusambo had with Dr M’membe and the possibility of the former Lusaka Province minister joining Socialist Party.

“Of course I saw pictures of Honourable Bowman Lusambo greeting Dr Fred M’membe. And I think there is nothing wrong with politicians from different political parties interacting. Remember that Honourable Miles Sampa went to State House to meet President Hakainde Hichilema. Has he resigned to from the Patriot Front to join the UPND? That has passed,” Chama explained. “And because I am not privy to what conversation Honourable Lusambo had with Dr Fred M’membe, I cannot comment. And personally I don’t discuss my fellow leaders within the party. And I equally don’t like feeding in speculations. But since you have brought it up, I will ask him that nga ifi tuleumfwa (what about this we are hearing)? For now, I don’t want to speculate.”

And Chama called on his fellow politicians to be principled if democracy is to flourish.

“I was in Heritage Party myself but when I realised that we were not following the vision of the party, I joined president Michael Sata. I was in opposition and joined another opposition political party. So people might move from one political party to another on principle,” said Chama. “Of course there are some people who are supporters of Manchester United, but when Manchester is doing fine they will join Leister and if Leister is losing they will join Arsenal. Equally, there are Nkana supporters who would move to Kabwe Warriors when Nkana is losing. But there are those hard core Nkana supporters that will always maintain the red colour and not succumb to what one veteran politician who talked about politics of the belly.”
