ACC is following up on all matters that relate to the signing of the contract for a South African company TFM Holdings Limited to construct seven by 150 bed capacity pre-fabricated hospitals, says the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
Responding to a press query over the commission’s silence on any of the investigations they are conducting in the UPND administration during their recent quarterly briefing, despite mentioning most of the high profile cases involving leaders in the former PF government, and despite the fact that they announced in August 2022 that they were investigating dismissed Health permanent secretary Dr George Magwende in relation to the $100 million hospitals, ACC head of corporate communication Timothy Moono argued that investigations into the matter were still ongoing.
“I wish to acknowledge receipt of your press query dated 7th December 2022 in which you wanted to know how far investigations have reached involving former Permanent Secretary for Administration at the Ministry of Health Dr. George Magwende. You also wanted to know whether the ACC is investigating matters that have arisen in connection to Dr Magwende’s case that border on allegations of impropriety and corruption against the Minister of Health Ms Sylvia Masebo,” stated Moono in relation to the query sent to him. “In wish to inform you that investigations relating to former Permanent Secretary for Administration at the Ministry of Health Dr. Magwende are still on-going and the Commission has continued to follow up on all matters that relate to the signing of a contract for a South African Company TFM Holdings Limited to construct seven by 150 bed capacity pre -fabricated hospitals. As you may be aware, Government has since cancelled the said contract.”
