Zambia women’s national team assistant coach Florence Mwila says the team is looking forward to their debut game at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium when they host Angola in the 2024 WAFCON qualifiers.

The Copper Queens will host Angola at Levy Stadium on December 5 in the two sides’ 2024 WAFCON final round, last leg qualifier in what will also be the team’s first match back on the Copperbelt in over six years.

Mwila said the team is hoping the fans will give them the famed Copperbelt football atmosphere at Levy Stadium.

“It is going to be a good one for the girls we are used to the Lusaka environment so it’s going to be a different environment on the Copperbelt,” Mwila said.

“Home ground advantage with the 12th player is what we need. We are excited and are looking forward to seeing ‘Ba Kopala’.

“Ba Kopala, you have been coming to Lusaka every time now we are at your doorstep so we expect a lot of noise that you the Copperbelt fans are famous for.”

Zambia has not played on the Copperbelt since March 25, 2018.

On that date, Zambia lost 3-0 to Kenya in an international women’s friendly played at Arthur Davies Stadium in Kitwe.

Since then, all senior Zambia women’s national team matches have been played in Lusaka.

Meanwhile, Zambia will play Angola away in their 2024 WAFCON qualifier first leg on November 29 in Luanda and six days later host the latter.

The Winner over both legs will qualify for the 2024 WAFCON where Zambia is aiming to qualify for a third successive tournament.
