Zambians must monitor closely to see how the Auditor General’s report will be attended to on the issue of the ghost workers saga, says Community Action Against Corruption CEO Brighton Tembo.

In a statement, Tembo urged the UPND administration and investigative wings to react decisively to the latest Auditor General’s Report.

“Government needs to improve and introduce measures that will help the Auditor General’s Report to attain meaningful status, that will warranty it’s undertaking. We have seen from previous regimes that, the AG’s reports were just part of national alarming news, which had no meaning and the people mentioned in the reports never accounted for their actions. As Community Action Against Corruption, we have always observed and followed with sadness that, people who are mentioned in these reports just end up attending the Parliamentary Public Accounts Committee (PAC) and the rest becomes History,” States Tembo. “This time around we have hope and believe that, Government will add meaning and value to the recently released AG’s report and make the people who benefitted from the Ghost worker Saga, payback the money they illegaly earned and face the law for possible prosecution.

“Finally we wish to urge all well meaning Zambians, to closely monitor how the latest Auditor General’s Report will be attended to and be concluded, so that as citizens, we can also help to give meaning the the AG’s Report.”
