I want to deliver home-grown development in Mwinilunga West, says Kamalata

Dr Robert Kamalata has announced his candidacy for Mwinilunga West, promising to deliver “home-grown development.”


‎Dr. Robert Kamalata, seasoned public servant, educationist, and advisor to Vice President has officially announced his candidacy for member of parliament for Mwinilunga West, pledging transformational leadership rooted in service, integrity, and results.


‎Dr Kamalata who was born and raised in Mwinilunga, is returning home with over 20 years of high-level experience in government, education, and administration.


“Mwinilunga shaped me. Now it’s time for me to help shape Mwinilunga’s future,” he declared.


‎Dr. Kamalata’s journey began at Mwinilunga Secondary School, where his father served as Headmaster. He trained as a teacher at Kitwe Teachers College and Evelyn Hone College before earning a Bachelor of Education from the University of Zambia. He holds a Master’s in Peace Leadership and Conflict Resolution and a 2024 PhD in Education Leadership and Management from Gideon Robert University.


‎His public service record cuts across critical institutions: Teacher at Chipata Day High School, Public Relations and Administrative Officer in the Ministry of Education, Senior Protocol Officer and Assistant Director in Cabinet Office, and Senior Private Secretary to the Vice President from 2012 to 2015. He later served as Director of Human Resources & Administration at the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock, and most recently as Permanent Secretary for Lusaka Province (2021–2025), where he oversaw financial, human, and material resources to drive efficient service delivery and economic growth.


‎Beyond government, Dr. Kamalata has shaped future leaders as a lecturer at the Zambia Institute of Diplomacy and International Studies, championed family planning and women’s empowerment with Planned Parenthood Association of Zambia, and strengthened governance as Senior Compliance & Risk Officer at Union Gold Group.


‎Dr. Kamalata says his vision for Mwinilunga Central centers on three pillars: development, empowerment, and peace. He plans to leverage his national experience to unlock local opportunities from youth jobs through Agency Banking and skills programs, to better infrastructure, education, and health services.


‎“I’ve managed budgets, organized state functions, and supported the presidency. That same discipline and delivery I bring home,” he said. “We will build party structures, unite our people, and ensure Mwinilunga Central gets its fair share of development.”


‎A member of the Zambia Institute of Human Resource Management and fluent in English, Dr. Kamalata is married and remains a devoted family man.


‎“Mwinilunga is not just where I’m from it’s why I serve,” said Dr. Kamalata. “With your support, we will move from potential to progress. Together, we deliver.”
