Citizens First (CF) leader Harry Kalaba says he would resuscitate the defunct Kapiri Glass in order to start making windscreens in the town.
Speaking after his roadshow in the town today, Kalaba said his party’s manifesto was anchored on industrialisation, stressing that he would work to resuscitate companies which were closed down during the privatisation process of the 1990s.
He said he was not only interested in resuscitating Kapiri Glass, but expanding the infrastructure there.
“We want to expand the infrastructure there. We want to begin making windscreens from Kapiri Mposhi. Because windscreens are made from the same material as glass which they are making those tamblas (glass cups), drinking glasses,” said Kalaba. “We also want to ensure that Kapiri Mposhi becomes a transitory industrial town. People from Kabwe, people from Ndola, people from Mkushi should be going into Kapiri Mposhi to buy what they want because if we have a lot of industries in Kapiri, the way Shenzhen is in China, then Kapiri will be very good for us as a country.”
