Kapiri man beats wife to death after both returned from drinking spree

A 50-year-old man in Kapiri Mposhi has beaten his 48-year old wife to death, following a fight between the couple as they returned from a drinking spree. 

Both Police sources and a village headman in the area have confirmed the  incident in separate interviews to Daily Revelation Newspaper.

The police has identified the deceased as Lillian Ngosa while the man who has killed his wife has been identified as Ben Chipemba of Lukomba area in Kapiri Mposhi district. 

Police sources explained that the incident happened on November 13, 2023 around 20:00 hours in Kapiri Mposhi’s Mpula area when the couple was coming from a drinking spree.

“Brief facts are that the said couple is alleged to have had differences when they had gone out on a drinking spree which resulted into a physical confrontation, which resulted in a fight at a named bar. They were separated by the people who were drinking beer in the same drinking place. But on their way back home they started fighting and unfortunately Ngosa was severely beaten and left unconscious,” said the source. “And when Chipemba realised that his wife was unconscious, he quickly fled the scene but was apprehended by onlookers. The victim was later taken to the main district hospital where she was admitted but the condition was critical and died.”

The body of the deceased has been deposited in the Kapiri Mposhi district hospital, while Chipemba has been detained by police, awaiting court appearance.

And headman Samuel Nsapato disclosed that the couple was in a habit of fighting, which he said has been a source of concern to members of the community.

Headman Nsapato that Gender Based Violence cases are rampant in his village.
