NRPUP presidential candidate Brian Mundubile says the country is “auto pilot” because nothing is working.
Speaking during the Red Hot breakfast on Hot Fm on Wednesday, Mundubile said there was a need to restore the country because nothing was going on in the country.
“You can see the extent to which the country has gone. Everything is going wrong. We seem to be on auto pilot. There is nobody who is in charge. So we are saying that we are going to reset the country. And there is a need for restoration,” Mundubile said.
“We simply want Zambia to work again. We Zambia as a country to work again. I know that Chisha and Pzee you have been around long enough to know that … you may not say it loudly. There is nothing going on in the country.”
Mundubile said once he were elected as president of Zambia he was going to professionalise the civil service by depoliticizing it.
“We have undertaken to depoliticise the civil service. We would like to professionalize the civil service. The first thing is that we are going to embark on a merit based recruitment approach. Professionals that deserve to work in certain positions in government will take up those positions,” Mundubile said
“By way of pronouncement coming from myself and the vice president, we speak to our members, for those who want to be in politics, let them stay away from civil service.”
Mundubile said the country needed to move forward economically
“We have made it clear that there will be no vengeance, not at all, it has to stop somewhere. It will end at us. It will stop at us. We are resetting the country. We are going are going national renewal. When we talk about unity, it is unity indeed.
So, there will be no politician who should begin to fidget to think we are going to come after them,” Mundubile said
“We set the police on them to find funny or silly cases. Not at all. What Zambia needs, Zambia needs to move forward. Zambia needs to move forward. Zambia needs to move forward economically as it were. Zambia to move forward in terms of unity. “
Meanwhile, Mundubile’s running mate Makebi Zulu said President Hakainde Hichilema was being hypocritical by preaching division whenever he was in his strongholds.
“Zambians are not interested in the politics that are divisive, like what President Hakainde is doing. He goes to a particular region, he says ‘vote for me. Give me a million votes, because these people were beating you. They will continue beating you.’ When he goes to other regions, he says ‘one Zambia, one nation.’ What sort of hypocrisy is that?” asked Zulu.
“If you are going to preach one Zambia, one nation. Let us preach it everywhere. Where we belong, to places we come from and we don’t come from. Because it is about uniting the country.”
