Power Dynamos striker Moses Shumah believes there is still light at the end of the tunnel in their 2025/2026 CAF Champions League Group A campaign after managing to secure their first point in the group stages last Saturday in their scoreless home draw against Rivers United of Nigeria.
The Kitwe side, who are making their continental group stage debut, clinched a point at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola to end a two-match losing start to the league phase campaign in the competition.
Shumah said post-match interview in Ndola that Power still has hope of making a strong finish in Group A in their remaining 3 fixtures.
In addition, it has been a frustrating group stage campaign so far for Shumah, who is not only the current FAZ Super League top scorer on 7 goals , but is also Power’s top marksman in continental football this season on 2 goals that both came in the preliminary stage.
”Well, disappointed, but our hope is not lost. I think we played very well. We created chances, unfortunately we didn’t score. That’s the reason why maybe we’ve gotten a draw. But I believe we had all it took to have our first win. But football being what it is, we continue working, “Shumah said.
”We did everything. But I think it’s just, you know, making use of our chances. And I believe it’s something that we can work on even going forward.
We created, we’re happy about it. So I think if we can work on little, little details, how to finish and everything, the result will definitely come.”
The draws sees Power still bottom of Group A with 1 point heading into their last three successive games against Rivers away in Nigeria on February 1, RS Berkane at home in Ndola on February 6 and Pyramids away in Cairo on February 13.
Berkane lead on 7 points, tied with Pyramids who are number two on goal difference while Rivers United are third with 1 point.
To qualify, Power needs to finish in the top two with a minimum of 9 points
”For now, to be honest, it’s about taking every game as it comes. For us to qualify, we need to win. So we’re looking for that first win. And hopefully, you know, get more wins. So for now, our focus is at least trying to get the first win, which I believe it will be in Nigeria,” Shumah said
