‎Makebi must stop masquerading as PF president – Mudolo

PF presidential aspirant Willa Mudolo has urged Makebi Zulu to stop “masquerading” as the president of the party.

In a statement issued on Friday, Mudolo stated Zulu and his group needed to respect the rule of law by allowing Miles Sampa to be the president of the party.

This follows the decision by the High Court judgment to confirm that the convention that elected Sampa in 2023 was legally constituted.

‎”I strongly urge Honourable Makebi Zulu and his team to cease masquerading as the leadership of the Patriotic Front and to respect the rule of law, which he is trained and duty-bound to defend. His resignation from the PF was a conscious and deliberate act, taken in disregard of the clear and unbiased advice I provided,” Sampa said. “The Provincial Chairpersons who are aligning themselves with activities that are illegal and contrary to the party’s internal standing orders and Party constitution risk being regarded as having resigned from the party. Let me be clear: our mission is not to dwell on internal contestation, but to restore hope to the people of Zambia.”

Mudolo stated that the court had spoken clearly and firmly on the election of Sampa. He added that the decision of the High Court showed that the processes of the party could not be undermined by speculation, procedural manipulation or unsubstantiated claims.

‎”I wish to address the nation following the High Court judgment on the legal matter that had remained before the courts, which sought to nullify the Party’s 2023 Extraordinary General Conference presided over by Honourable Miles Sampa. The Court has now spoken clearly and firmly on the issue. After independently examining the matter, it found that the conference was held under unique but acceptable circumstances. I respect and agree with the Court’s findings,” Mudolo stated. “This outcome affirms a fundamental principle: that the processes of our Party cannot be undermined by speculation, procedural manipulation, or unsubstantiated claims. At a time when our Party is working to reorganise, renew, and reposition itself as a credible alternative for the Zambian people, it is regrettable that energy has been diverted into internal disputes rather than national solutions.”

Mudolo stated the High Court judgement of March 27, 2026 allowed the party to move forward with greater focus and unity.

‎”However, today’s judgment allows us to move forward with greater focus and unity. In the same spirit, I urge Honourable Sampa, the Acting President, to encourage all members who resigned and participated in the ‘No Name Conference’ to respect this judgment and refrain from any actions that may undermine or interfere with its effect,” Mudolo stated. “The rule of law must guide us all, and the stability of our Party must take precedence over individual interests.”

Mudolo encouraged PF members countrywide to put aside divisions and recommit themselves to the greater cause of rebuilding the party and serving the nation.

“I therefore call upon all members of the Patriotic Front, across all structures, to put aside divisions and recommit themselves to the greater cause of rebuilding our Party and serving our nation. Leadership is not about positions  it is about responsibility,” stated Mudolo “And at this moment in our country’s history, Zambia requires leadership that is decisive, inclusive, and focused on delivering real economic transformation. We will continue to engage with our members, strengthen our structures, and prepare ourselves to offer the Zambian people a leadership that is ready to govern, ready to deliver jobs, and ready to restore dignity to our nation.”
