Let’s be empathetic towards Nawakwi – State House

By Patson Chilemba

Let’s be empathetic towards Edith Nawakwi, says State House Chief Communication Specialist Clayson Hamasaka.

Nawakwi, who has since been arrested by police, yesterday accused President Hakainde Hichilema of trying to wash his dirt over the Hatembo issue on her, but speaking with Daily Revelation, Hamasaka said he did not want to respond to Nawakwi on account of her health.

“When did you last meet madam Nawakwi in person? How is she?” Hamasaka asked. “Look can we be a bit empathetic with her. She’s been unwell for sometime and even you in your story you have written that she is unwell. If I were you just for her health can we stay away from her? That will be my guidance.”

Hamasaka said it is not a good idea to stress Nawakwi, and he did not want to engage with her.

“Secondly I would rather if I were you, let’s concentrate on her health. From the story I have seen here she has even told you she’s unwell,” Hamasaka said.

But asked if the journalism he taught at Evelyn Hone said that one could not react to the assertions made by a sick person, Hamasaka said there was need to separate theory from reality.

“I think when we teach then we go in the field we discover and we keep teaching ourselves in the field let’s be empathetic. Let’s leave madam Nawakwi and pray for her health,” Hamasaka said. “Let’s be empathetic. This is a Christian nation. For me she can say all she wants now, but I think my concern for her like she told you is her health. Please let’s concentrate on her health. Look she might be emotional and all those things. Let’s be concerned on her health. She told you herself and you should even tell your readers that Mr Hamasaka even guided me that let’s for now spare her even for interviews.”
