NRPUP presidential candidate Brian Mundubile says school children will be finding books and uniforms at school, sewn by empowered women in the cooperatives under his free education policy.
And his running-mate Makebi Zulu said ishilu nalipena (someone has gone mad), as they had now gone on rampage trying to bribe voters with stuff, urging voters to simply get the stuff and eat.
And Roan parliamentary candidate Chishimba Kambwili questioned if everything was alright with President Hakainde Hichilema that he was now employing people at rallies, and wondered if those who did not attend them will ever get employed.
Addressing a mammoth rally in Kitwe today, Mundubile said he wanted to implement quality free education, where classrooms should have a limit of 50 students, while providing free uniforms and books to school going children.
“We shall empower women with sowing machines and capital and you are the ones who will be making uniforms and distributing to schools,” he said.
And Mundubile described policemen who were approaching people wearing facemasks as criminals and cadres, warning that he will fire them all.
He promised to undo the cyber laws arguing that people had been afflicted a lot as when the UPND came into power and realised that they had failed, they embarked on shutting people’s mouths through cyber laws.
He promised to return the freedoms to people.
For the small scale miners, Mundubile said he would return them to Area 10.
“We do not hate investors but we believe in shared value. Investors should start new mines,” he said. “You are going back to Mikonge to mine gold. No soldier, no policeman or ZNS (Zambia National Service) will come to you with guns.”
He said the duty of the government was to help people, therefore those to be put in cooperatives would be provided with machines on loan basis in order to produce youth millionaires in the country.
“We shall declare a holiday called miners day to celebrate the contribution of miners to the country,” Mundubile said.
Mundubile also promised truck drivers that the sectoral minimum wage would also apply to them.
He promised to give relief to civil servants over their indebtedness, and also to embark on merit based enrollment in the civil service.
Mundubile said there would be no caderism in markets, bus stations and in the civil service.
“There will be no police officer who will be reporting to work with facemasks … 13th August is our second Independence,” said Mundubile.
